DRIVERS in Limerick are paying the third highest cost for car insurance in the country.
Figures released by Chill Insurance show that drivers in Limerick pay an average of €779 a year for their car insurance.
Longford topped the table with an average premium of €915, followed by Louth at €803.
According to Chill, car insurance premiums are higher in areas where crime rates and the likelihood of a car being stolen are higher.
Adding extra drivers to a policy, increasing voluntary excess and shopping around are some of the ways motorists can reduce insurance costs.
