Prosecutors alleged that Allied United Insurance Company failed in some cases to properly investigate or handle auto insurance claims.
Prosecutors in Ventura and Los Angeles counties say they’ve reached a settlement with an insurance company over allegations it failed to properly handle auto insurance claims.
The investigation involved Allied United Insurance Company.
Prosecutors say that in some cases the company failed to properly investigate claims or respond to claims in a timely manner.
They say that while the company hasn’t admitted any wrongdoing, it has agreed to take additional steps to make sure claims are handled properly. It will also change policies to ensure that claims decisions are made within the legal timeframes required by law.
Alliance United will also pay $1.1 million in civil penalties and reimburse both counties for their investigation costs.
