MS Amlin is set to open a new office in Sydney, pending approval from Lloyd’s, marking a significant expansion of its Asia Pacific Reinsurance operations under MS Amlin Pacific Pte. Ltd.
Matt Botfield has been appointsed as the head of MS Amlin’s Australia and New Zealand operations, where he will oversee both the existing client portfolio and broker relationships. Botfield will also be responsible for driving new business development in these key markets.
MS Amlin’s regional reinsurance business, led by CEO Will Ho, specializes in casualty, property, and specialty reinsurance solutions. The expansion into Australia and New Zealand reflects the growing importance of these markets to the company’s overall business strategy.
Botfield will utilize MS Amlin’s robust underwriting capabilities to craft tailored solutions for clients across the region. This new office will complement MS Amlin’s existing portfolio, which is currently managed from London.
Botfield brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as Chief Operating Officer for Greater China at Aon Reinsurance China and CEO of the Alternate Insurance Authority in Hong Kong. With 14 years at Aon Benfield, including senior positions as Head of Property for Australia and New Zealand, Botfield is well-equipped to lead MS Amlin’s growth in the region.
