Hong Kong – Sun Life Financial Inc. has officially named Bennet Li as the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for its Asia operations, following his role as interim CFO since September 2024.
Li, who has been with Sun Life since 2002, will report directly to Tim Deacon, Executive Vice President and CFO, and Manjit Singh, President of Sun Life Asia. In his new position, Li will be responsible for overseeing financial strategies, operational processes, and capital allocation throughout the region. His efforts will focus on advancing Sun Life’s strategic financial objectives to drive growth in Asia and enhance long-term shareholder value.
Throughout his career at Sun Life, Li has held leadership roles across various divisions, including Finance, Actuarial, and Group Benefits and Retirement Services in both Asia and Canada. Most recently, he served as Vice President, Head of Strategic Finance, and Country Manager for Mainland China.
Li will continue his work at Sun Life’s regional headquarters in Hong Kong and will join the Asia Executive Team.
He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Arts from the University of Toronto. Additionally, he is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and the Society of Actuaries.
