Bowtie, a Hong Kong-based health insurance provider, has expanded its offerings by integrating Histotripsy treatment into its VHIS rider under the Bowtie VHIS Flexi Plan and Bowtie Pink. This collaboration with Gleneagles Hospital Hong Kong marks a significant development, as the hospital becomes “Asia’s first private hospital to offer Histotripsy treatment,” according to a press release.
Effective immediately, the upgrade enables existing policyholders of Bowtie’s VHIS plans who have selected the “Gleneagles Hospital Wellness Package” to receive full reimbursement for Histotripsy treatment. In addition, the package covers 249 designated “all-inclusive fixed price medical packages” available at Gleneagles.
Fred Ngan, Co-Founder of Bowtie, highlighted that the partnership aims to enhance accessibility to advanced medical technologies for residents of Hong Kong. He emphasized that this collaboration goes beyond just financing, aiming to drive healthcare innovation in the region.
Ngan also noted that around 20% of eligible VHIS customers currently opt for the “Medical Insurance + Wellness” packages, showcasing strong demand for private medical services.
