Prudential Hong Kong has announced two key leadership appointments with the appointment of Abhishek Kumar as Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and Grace Lee as General Counsel.
Both executives will report directly to Lawrence Lam, CEO of Prudential Hong Kong, and join the company’s Executive Committee.
Kumar, who steps into the role of Chief Risk Officer, will be responsible for overseeing Prudential’s risk and compliance infrastructure, fostering a culture of risk awareness that supports business growth. He will also report to Avnish Kalra, Chief Risk & Compliance Officer at Prudential plc.
With over 20 years of experience in insurance, risk management, and financial services advisory, Kumar brings a wealth of expertise to the role. Before joining Prudential, he served as Head of Insurance Practice in Hong Kong and Head of APAC Actuarial Practice at KPMG, where he spearheaded efforts in risk management, regulatory reporting, and technology-driven transformation. Kumar is a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and holds an engineering degree from the Indian Institute of Technology.
Grace Lee, Prudential’s new General Counsel, will manage all legal matters and the Company Secretary function. In her role, she will provide strategic legal counsel to ensure the company’s growth while maintaining legal compliance.
Lee brings over 25 years of legal expertise, including more than two decades at Citi. There, she served as General Counsel for the company’s operations in China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand. Lee holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Toronto, a Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School, and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business.
Kumar joined Prudential on January 6, while Lee started in her role on January 27.
