Ant Insurance Processes 7.25 Million Health Claims in 2024

Ant Insurance, the online insurance platform operated by Ant Group, processed a record 7.25 million health claims in 2024, marking a 55% increase from the previous year. The platform’s total health claim payouts amounted to $1.3 billion.

The surge in claims is attributed to the company’s expanding range of products, a more streamlined user experience, and the growing demand for health insurance services in China. According to the National Health Commission, over 400 million people in China—representing more than 30% of the population—are expected to be aged 60 or older by 2035. This demographic shift is anticipated to drive further demand for commercial health insurance, supplementing China’s basic medical system.

In addition to traditional claims processing, Ant Insurance introduced its AI-powered EasyClaims solution in 2024. The AI system processed 1.62 million claims analysis requests across more than 85 health insurance products. Remarkably, the AI handled 96% of these requests, significantly speeding up the claims process for Ant Insurance’s 11 partner insurers.

To enhance its service offerings, Ant Group launched Ant Bridge in September 2024. The platform integrates advanced AI models and financial intelligence to provide real-time, tailored customer service, streamlining operations for insurers.

Ant Group’s involvement in digital healthcare dates back to 2014, when it first launched healthcare services through its Alipay platform. As of January 2025, Alipay has facilitated hospital appointments and various medical services for over 800 million users across 3,600 hospitals.

Further advancing its digital healthcare efforts, Ant Group introduced an AI Healthcare Manager on Alipay in September 2024. This feature offers users services such as doctor mapping, medical report interpretation, and personalized health advice, helping to improve healthcare accessibility in China.

With its continued innovations, Ant Group is positioning itself at the forefront of efforts to enhance both healthcare accessibility and operational efficiency as demand for healthcare services in China rises.
