Igloo Expands Regional Partnerships, Appoints New CDO

Igloo, a leading insurtech company, is broadening its regional footprint in Southeast Asia with a series of new partnerships and product offerings for 2025. As part of its expansion strategy, the company has appointed Sasitharan Krishnan as its new Chief Distribution Officer (CDO).

Krishnan brings over 30 years of expertise in insurance distribution, having held senior positions at Sompo and Allianz Ayudhya Assurance. In his new role, he will spearhead Igloo’s distribution strategy, with a focus on brokering regional partnerships and enhancing collaborations with insurers across the region.

Deepening Partnerships in the Philippines

In the Philippines, Igloo is strengthening its collaboration with leading consumer finance platforms Salmon and Skyro. The company has launched a new Gadget Protection product in partnership with Salmon, offering coverage for device repairs and replacements on gadgets purchased through the platform. This adds to their existing loan protection coverage, which ensures loan repayments in case of unforeseen incidents.

Additionally, Igloo’s partnership with Skyro has expanded to include Goods Protection, which covers home furniture, clothing, auto accessories, and toys against everyday risks.

The company has also reinforced its relationship with Shopee in the Philippines, unveiling Goods Protection as its fifth product with the platform. This new offering, underwritten by SeaInsure, covers eligible purchases like electronics accessories and baby gear, protecting them from total loss or damage due to accidents.

New Ventures in Indonesia and Thailand

In Indonesia, Igloo is expanding its network of partnerships with fintech companies Akulaku and Kredivo. Akulaku has launched a gadget protection service underwritten by Victoria Insurance, providing coverage for device repairs and replacements. Meanwhile, Kredivo, which serves over 10 million users, has introduced Travel Domestic insurance, covering trip cancellations and lost baggage.

Igloo has also launched its fifth product with Indonesian e-wallet platform DANA, offering Xtra Protection to its 200 million users.

In Thailand, Igloo has furthered its collaboration with True Money, adding car and motorcycle insurance to its existing health and accident coverage. This new product aims to extend protection to approximately 20.7 million registered vehicles in the country. Igloo’s partnership with Lazada Thailand has also expanded to include Flight Insurance for both domestic and international travel.
