Sompo Holdings has reorganized its global business into two primary segments: Sompo Property and Casualty (Re)insurance (Sompo P&C) and Sompo Wellbeing. This restructuring will take effect on April 1.
Under the new structure, Sompo P&C will consolidate Sompo International Holdings Ltd’s insurance and reinsurance operations with the company’s Japan-based commercial and consumer property and casualty (P&C) businesses.
James Shea, who is currently serving as chairman and CEO of Sompo’s global insurance and reinsurance operations outside Japan, will assume the role of CEO for Sompo P&C. Shea will report directly to Mikio Okumura, the CEO of Sompo Group.
In this new structure, Koji Ishikawa, the CEO of Sompo Japan, will now report to Shea.
Sompo Holdings has also announced a series of additional leadership appointments. Kenneth Reilly, CEO of Insurance for the Asia Pacific region, will expand his role to become Deputy CEO of Sompo Japan, Commercial Insurance.
Nicolas Burnet has been appointed group deputy CFO at Sompo Holdings, in addition to his new role as CFO for Sompo P&C. In these roles, Burnet will oversee global investment strategy, capital allocation, investor relations, and mergers and acquisitions.
