India’s non-life insurance industry experienced a 6.58% year-on-year (YoY) growth in January, with specialised insurers leading the surge at 26.3%, according to the General Insurance Council’s latest data.
Standalone health insurers reported an 11% YoY increase in premiums, while general insurers saw a more modest rise of 5.1%.
On a year-to-date (YTD) basis, the non-life insurance sector grew by 7.7%, with standalone health insurers experiencing a notable 17.8% YoY jump. Specialised insurers recorded a 2.5% premium increase, while general insurers posted a 6.7% growth in premiums.
