The International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS) has released its Strategic Plan for 2025 – 2029. This plan zeroes in on crucial areas that are set to influence the global insurance scenario. The IAIS has pinpointed climate change, digital innovation, and cyber risks, along with the role of insurance in building societal resilience, as the core themes for the upcoming years.
IAIS executive committee chair Shigeru Ariizumi pointed out that the plan lays stress on the consistent application of global standards and an intensified supervisory focus on these strategic themes. The IAIS will assist member jurisdictions in implementing effective supervisory practices and will fine – tune its annual risk assessment to tackle key risks within the sector.
The organization’s goals continue to revolve around monitoring risks, setting up effective supervision standards, enhancing supervisory understanding, and evaluating the implementation of global standards. In terms of operations, the IAIS stated that it will give priority to diversity, equity, inclusion, and sustainability. It also aims to boost engagement with members and stakeholders and increase efficiency through the use of technology.
