Gaps in Hong Kong’s Health Insurance Coverage and Rising Claims: Prudential Hong Kong’s reports show that 59% of Hongkongers lack critical illness insurance and 82% don’t have cancer – specific coverage. However, 61% of claims payouts in H1 were for critical illness. This reveals a significant gap in health insurance coverage among Hong Kong residents, despite an alleged increase in health awareness.
Discrepancy in Health – Conscious Actions: The “Health Awareness Study” found that 82% of respondents in the Greater Bay Area are willing to stay healthy. But only 67% of Hongkongers take concrete actions. Moreover, only 55% show concern for liver and digestive health. This indicates a difference in how health consciousness translates into actual behavior.
Rising Claims and Improved Processing: The 2024 H1 Individual Life Claims Report noted a rise in claims. Prudential handled over 66,000 cases in H1 2024, a 7% YoY increase. Medical expense claims rose 38% and hospitalisation claims 60%. Prudential has reduced critical illness and death claim processing time by 28% to boost customer experience.
