OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahomans will have the opportunity to sign up for health insurance coverage for 2025 beginning Nov. 1, through the Health Insurance Marketplace. The open enrollment period runs from Nov. 1 to Dec. 15, with coverage starting Jan. 1 for those who enroll by the deadline.
The Health Insurance Marketplace, established under the Affordable Care Act, provides a platform for individuals and families in Oklahoma to compare and purchase health insurance plans tailored to their needs.
Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Glen Mulready emphasized the importance of securing health insurance, particularly as health care costs continue to rise.
“Now is the time to evaluate your family’s needs and ensure you have the best coverage to meet them,” Mulready stated.
A news release from the Oklahoma Insurance Department reported that during last year’s open enrollment, over 269,600 residents either renewed or purchased new health insurance plans, with an average monthly premium of $71 after federal subsidies.
For 2025, seven insurers will offer health plans in the state, providing a range of options. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Oklahoma will offer statewide coverage, while Medica Insurance Company, Oscar Health, UnitedHealthcare, CommunityCare Oklahoma, Ambetter of Oklahoma, and Taro Health will provide plans in select counties.
To enroll in a plan through the Health Insurance Marketplace, applicants must be U.S. citizens living in the country and not incarcerated.
The Oklahoma Insurance Department, responsible for regulating the state’s insurance industry, plays a key role in educating the public and ensuring consumer protection regarding insurance matters.
