Prudential has appointed Pankaj Banerjee as its new group chief agency officer, effective from September 30. In his new role, Banerjee will report directly to Lilian Ng, Managing Director of the Strategic Business Group. He will be responsible for overseeing Prudential’s technology-driven distribution strategy, focusing primarily on agency operations.
Based at Prudential’s Group headquarters in Hong Kong, Banerjee will collaborate closely with teams across 24 markets spanning Asia and Africa. With over 24 years of experience in insurance management, Banerjee brings a wealth of expertise to his new position. His career includes senior roles at ICICI Prudential, Prudential Vietnam, and as CEO of Prudential Cambodia and AIA Sri Lanka. Prior to joining Prudential, Banerjee served as the Chief Distribution Officer for Manulife Asia.
Prudential’s new strategic direction, unveiled in August 2023, aims to significantly enhance the profitability of its agency business, targeting a 2.5 to 3-fold increase in new business profits by 2027 compared to 2022 levels.
