Sompo, the global insurer specializing in commercial and consumer property and casualty (re)insurance, has expanded its presence in the UK with the opening of a new office in Manchester. Located at the 10th floor, 3 Hardman Street, Spinningfields, Manchester M3 3HF, this new base complements Sompo’s existing offices in Birmingham and London.
Bob Thaker, Chief Executive of Sompo UK’s commercial property and casualty insurance division, expressed his enthusiasm about the expansion into Manchester, emphasizing its role as a regional hub to enhance collaboration with clients and brokers in northern England. This move aligns with Sompo’s strategy to grow its commercial lines outside the London market.
The Manchester expansion follows the recent appointment of Allan Murley as Head of UK Insurance Distribution, based in London. Thaker praised Murley’s extensive industry experience and leadership qualities, foreseeing his contribution to driving Sompo’s business growth and supporting their ambitions in the UK market.
Internationally, Sompo has also strengthened its team with the appointment of Christoph Müller as Country Manager for insurance in Switzerland, marking another strategic move aimed at bolstering their presence and operations in key markets.
