SBI General Insurance Company has announced the appointment of Shri Naveen Chandra Jha as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. This decision, confirmed by the State Bank of India (SBI), will see Jha succeed Kishore Kumar Poludasu in leading the insurance arm of India’s largest state-owned bank.
New Leadership at the Helm
Jha, who has been with SBI since 1994, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. His career at SBI includes a variety of key positions, culminating most recently in his role as Deputy Managing Director. His extensive background in banking and his innovative leadership style are expected to drive SBI General Insurance’s vision of providing security and trust.
“His extensive experience in diverse fields and innovative, forward-thinking leadership style will bolster our organization’s vision for ‘suraksha and bharosa dono,’” stated SBI General Insurance.
Strengthening Key Relations
In a related development, Jaya Tripathi has been appointed to lead SBI General Insurance’s Key Relations Group. Tripathi’s new role will focus on expanding business opportunities, managing the sales team, and strengthening partnerships to drive profitability.
Tripathi brings a diverse background to the position, with experience spanning general insurance, fashion retail, and tourism. She has held senior roles at Mahindra Holidays, ICICI Lombard, Forevermark Diamonds (De Beers Group), and the Aditya Birla Group. She holds a postgraduate diploma in business management with a focus on marketing from Symbiosis International University.

Collaboration with IIT Madras
In other news, SBI General Insurance has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) to develop a new device aimed at enhancing breast cancer treatment. This innovative device integrates hyperthermia with radio and chemotherapy, addressing a significant health concern. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), breast cancer accounts for 28.2% of all female cancer cases in India.
