Emergence Insurance, specializing in cyber insurance, has announced the introduction of a pivotal role within its organization, the head of distribution, with the promotion of Katrina Hickson to this esteemed position.
Katrina Hickson, who has been an integral part of Emergence since March 2021, serving as the business development underwriter for Queensland and the Northern Territory, brings a wealth of experience to her new role. Prior to joining Emergence, Hickson contributed significantly to broker development at Steadfast Group and accrued 11 years of expertise in premium funding, refining her skills in strategy, operations, and process improvement.
Troy Filipcevic, CEO and founder of Emergence, expressed his confidence in Hickson’s capabilities, stating, “Katrina is very strategic, has the ability to execute plans, and always has brokers’ best interests at heart. She is an integral part of the team and has been pivotal in Emergence’s growth.”

This role will help design solutions for brokers and execute those plans,” he elucidated.
The inception of this pivotal leadership position follows closely on the heels of Emergence’s unveiling of cybersecurity advisory services, aimed at empowering brokers to fortify their clients’ defenses against digital threats.
During a webinar attended by 2,400 industry brokers, Filipcevic announced the launch of Emergence’s cybersecurity advisory services, designed to assist brokers in bolstering their clients’ cybersecurity posture.
Prior to the introduction of these advisory services, Emergence’s cybersecurity incident team was managing 15 incidents, a number notably lower than its typical monthly average.
