Chubb, a prominent global property and casualty (P&C) insurance entity, has announced a strategic consolidation of its operations in South Korea. The move involves merging its three subsidiaries in the country under the unified brand name “Lina” with the aim of streamlining operations and enhancing brand cohesion.
As per a report from the Korea Herald, Ace American Fire and Marine Insurance Company Korea, the general insurance arm of Chubb in Korea, has confirmed its rebranding as Lina General Insurance. This decision brings it in alignment with Chubb Korea’s other affiliates, namely Lina Life Insurance and Lina One.
The rationale behind this consolidation, as stated by Lina General Insurance, is to leverage the combined strengths and capabilities of the three entities, fostering collaboration, and offering products and services tailored to the evolving needs of customers in today’s highly personalized landscape.
Lina Life Insurance, in its announcement of the rebranding, unveiled a new slogan, “Spotlight on You,” emphasizing the company’s commitment to addressing diverse aspects of customers’ lives.
In tandem with this strategic move, Kate Burke has been appointed as the head of international personal lines (IPL) for the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. Based in Singapore, Burke will oversee the strategic development of various business lines, including auto, residential, specialty, and high-net-worth, across the region. She reports to Ben Howell, head of consumer for APAC, and John Thompson, division president for international personal lines.
Kate Burke brings over 17 years of industry experience to her new role, having previously held diverse positions in travel insurance, encompassing claims, customer service, and business development. Since joining Chubb in 2017, she has played pivotal roles in the company’s travel insurance segment in APAC and subsequently assumed leadership positions within Chubb’s Singapore operations. In her most recent role as head of residential, personal risk solutions, and specialty personal lines for APAC, Burke has been instrumental in driving business growth and forging strategic partnerships across the region.
Commenting on Burke’s appointment, Ben Howell expressed confidence in her ability to drive growth in personal lines opportunities across Chubb’s Asia Pacific markets. He highlighted her customer-centric approach and track record of leading high-performing teams, underscoring Chubb’s commitment to nurturing and promoting talent from within the organization.
