GREENVILLE, N.C. — A Greenville resident has been charged in connection with a state investigation into insurance fraud, authorities announced.
According to the North Carolina Department of Insurance, Kristen Carter, 34, faces charges of insurance fraud and attempting to acquire property through false pretenses.
State special agents allege that Carter submitted fraudulent invoices under a fictitious business name to the American Banks Insurance Company of Florida. The claims reportedly related to damage on a swimming pool that did not match the pool Carter owned.
The false claim was valued at $5,199, officials say.
Carter is scheduled to appear in court on November 7.
