Aware Super, one of Australia’s largest superannuation funds, has announced the appointment of David Evans as its new head of product and insurance. In this role, Evans will be responsible for spearheading the fund’s product and insurance strategy, overseeing the governance and management of its product offerings.
Evans brings a wealth of experience to his new position, having previously served as the head of insurance at Aware Super for six years. Prior to joining Aware Super, he held key roles at AMP for nearly six years, culminating in his tenure as a technical adviser and head of corporate insurance. During his time at AMP, Evans played a pivotal role in offer development, business expansion, and client relationship management across various segments of the group insurance market.
Before his tenure at AMP, Evans spent five and a half years at NAB, where he served as a general manager leading the MLC direct insurance and bancassurance teams.
This appointment comes following a recent executive team restructuring at Aware Super. Earlier this year, the fund introduced an expanded chief operating officer (COO) role and integrated its financial advice services more closely into its suite of financial education and guidance offerings. Sally Collins, former HESTA chief financial officer, joined Aware Super as the expanded COO.
Other internal changes included Jo Brennan transitioning to the role of group executive, member engagement and advice, and Steve Travis expanding his responsibilities as group executive, member growth. Katrina McPhee was appointed to lead the newly created communications, public affairs, and advocacy team as chief of staff and group executive for Victoria.
David Evans’ appointment underscores Aware Super’s commitment to enhancing its product and insurance offerings, aligning with its broader strategic goals and commitment to member services and engagement.
