The chairman of AIG’s general insurance unit, David McElroy, is set to retire effective May 1, as announced by AIG on Monday. McElroy, who assumed the chairmanship of the unit in January this year, has opted to accelerate his retirement date due to personal reasons, according to a statement released by the company. Despite his retirement, McElroy has agreed to remain accessible to AIG for any necessary matters.
Having joined AIG in 2018 as the president and CEO of Lexington Insurance Company, McElroy has played a pivotal role within the organization. He served as the CEO of the general insurance unit from August 2020 until December 2023.
