A church in the Etiwanda area of Rancho Cucamonga is facing the task of rebuilding after a fire caused damage to portions of the building last month.
The fire erupted at the Etiwanda Community Church around 3:30 p.m. on Jan. 29, as reported by the Rancho Cucamonga Fire District. Responding fire crews rushed to the scene following reports of smoke emanating from an outlet inside the church. Thankfully, firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze within about half an hour, preventing it from spreading to other areas of the church.
However, despite the prompt response, the church sustained fire and water damage in various parts of the building, including much of the basement. Unfortunately, many of these repairs will not be covered by the church’s insurance company, according to church officials.
“Restoring a historical building presents numerous unique and costly challenges,” church officials stated on social media.
Despite the setbacks, the church has persevered, continuing to hold services and Bible study sessions in the aftermath of the fire. However, they are now seeking support from the community to aid in the restoration efforts.
