Ayo Edebiri, the 28-year-old star of “The Bear,” revealed an unconventional dream as she walked the red carpet at the 2024 Emmy Awards. Despite being nominated for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series, Edebiri admitted that her aspirations didn’t involve winning awards but rather obtaining dental insurance.
Dressed in a striking black strapless leather gown by Louis Vuitton, complemented by a simple diamond necklace and studs, Edebiri arrived at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles for the prestigious event.
During an interview with E News’ Laverne Cox on the red carpet, Edebiri was asked about her younger self’s reaction to attending such a high-profile awards show and potentially winning accolades. In response, she candidly confessed that her dreams were more practical.
“She didn’t dream of nights like this. She sort of dreamed of just, like, dental insurance,” Edebiri humorously remarked. “We’ve got dental, we’ve got eye [insurance], we’ve got ear. We can go to the dermatologist.”
Seizing the moment, Edebiri encouraged viewers to prioritize health, advocating for regular dermatologist screenings and emphasizing the importance of yearly check-ups. She stressed the significance of checking moles and wearing sunscreen, irrespective of skin color.
“Check your moles, people. Wear sunscreen, even if you’re Black, and check your moles,” Edebiri urged. She also disclosed a personal revelation about nighttime teeth grinding, expressing surprise at discovering this habit about herself.
While navigating the red carpet, Edebiri demonstrated her caring nature by assisting fellow actress Rhea Seehorn with her makeup. A video shared on Twitter captured the moment as Edebiri gently corrected Seehorn’s makeup, showcasing camaraderie among the stars on the Emmy Awards night.
