Longstanding Daytona Beach insurance agency acquired by Brown & Brown

Volusia County, FL – Brown & Brown Insurance, Inc. has recently finalized the acquisition of Caton Hosey Insurance, a long-standing insurance company in Volusia County. The deal, announced on Tuesday, solidifies the commitment of both companies to the Daytona Beach-area community. Financial details of the transaction remain undisclosed.

Caton Hosey Insurance, founded in 1948 by members of the Caton family, will continue its operations from the Port Orange office under the Brown & Brown umbrella. Both entities, now part of the same corporate family, share a legacy as third-generation, family-led businesses deeply rooted in the local community.

Expressing enthusiasm for the partnership, Brown & Brown CEO J. Powell Brown stated, “Caton Hosey shares in our commitment to creating opportunities for our talented team, promoting strong customer service, and giving back to our community while creating a productive and fun company culture that helps propel business forward.”

Caton Hosey is currently led by CEO Rex Caton, President John Hosey, and Barbara Caton, agency administrator. The company has been a family affair since its inception, with Rex’s grandfather, Dorris, and his brother Frank establishing it in 1948. Richard, Dorris’ son, took charge in 1959, and Rex assumed the role of president in 1990.

Reflecting on the historical ties between the two companies, Rex Caton remarked, “Our families have known each other since our early beginnings in 1948.
