Hong Kong – China Ping An Insurance (Hong Kong) has teamed up with Collinson International to launch SmartDelay, a new service offering complimentary benefits to eligible online travel insurance customers. The initiative aims to enhance the travel experience by providing immediate assistance in case of flight delays or cancellations.
Customers who register their flight through China Ping An’s online travel insurance platform can access over 1,600 airport lounges or opt for alternative benefits such as spa services, sleep pods, or restaurant discounts when their flight is delayed or canceled. The benefit is available across all three tiers of China Ping An’s travel insurance policies.
In the event of a delay exceeding one hour or a flight cancellation, policyholders will receive a QR code granting access to the lounge or their selected benefit. To qualify, customers must complete their flight registration at least two hours before their scheduled departure. The policy also extends coverage to one accompanying traveler.
This partnership comes as travel across the Asia Pacific region continues to bounce back from the pandemic. Collinson International’s recent study revealed that 33 million travelers in the region were impacted by flight delays of more than an hour. Moreover, the study found that 60% of travelers in the region experience significant stress when dealing with pre-flight disruptions.
SmartDelay is designed to provide peace of mind to travelers and make the often frustrating experience of a flight delay more manageable.
