Sri Lanka Appoints Dr. Ajith Raveendra De Mel as IRCSL Chairman

The Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (IRCSL) has appointed Dr. Ajith Raveendra De Mel as the new chairman of its board of directors, effective 2 January 2025.

Dr. De Mel, a seasoned academic, has been serving as a senior lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Ruhuna since 2015. He has also contributed as a visiting lecturer at the University of Moratuwa since 2018.

He takes over the role from Razik Zarook, who previously held the position of chairman and served as a member of the IRCSL’s board.

Dr. De Mel holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics with a specialization in statistics from the Missouri University of Science and Technology in the United States.
