Specialist Risk Group (SRG), a UK-based insurance intermediary owned by Warburg Pincus and Temasek, has announced the appointment of Collin Yap as its new CEO for the Asia Pacific region, effective early next year upon completion of his current employment contract. This strategic move supports SRG’s expansion plans in the region, which include the acquisition of Singapore-based HL Suntek Insurance Brokers Pte Ltd, pending regulatory approval.
Yap brings over 20 years of insurance industry experience, having held senior positions at prominent firms throughout the region. Most recently, he served as CEO of Marsh McLennan Singapore, where he spearheaded business development initiatives. Previously, he led JLT Singapore, focusing on tailored insurance solutions for diverse clients.
Yap’s extensive background in the Asia-Pacific market equips him to drive SRG’s growth efforts. He will work alongside Chua Eng Leong, SRG’s non-executive director in Singapore, and Lim Eng Thiam, managing director of HL Suntek, to seamlessly integrate the new operations with SRG’s existing business model, which emphasizes specialized insurance solutions.
“Collin’s wealth of experience and deep understanding of the insurance landscape make him the ideal leader for our Asia-Pacific expansion,” stated Warren Downey, CEO of SRG.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the role, Yap highlighted SRG’s commitment to people, culture, and specialized expertise as key differentiators in the market. He emphasized that the acquisition of HL Suntek, coupled with the strength of the Asia-Pacific team, positions SRG to deliver significant value to its clients.
“I am confident that together we can build a business that offers exceptional value and makes a lasting impact in the region,” Yap added.
