AIA Singapore has announced an expansion of its mental health care coverage within corporate insurance policies, impacting over 1.3 million employees at no extra cost. The enhanced support will be effective from January 2025, as part of the Group Hospital & Surgical Insurance (GHS) plan.
This initiative follows findings from the AIA Live Better Study 2024, which revealed that 59% of Singaporean consumers feel they require additional resources for mental wellness. The study highlighted affordability (66%), accessibility (53%), and the presence of workplace initiatives (51%) as critical areas where support is needed.
Among the significant changes to corporate policies, AIA Singapore will raise the age limit for senior workers and expand access to pediatric mental health care, allowing direct access for children aged 7 to 12 without the need for referral letters. Additionally, inpatient mental health treatment will be billed on an “as charged” basis, and AIA will introduce mobile inpatient care at home as an alternative to traditional hospital settings.
The insurer will also enhance outpatient coverage for accident and emergency care at Singapore government hospitals, also on an “as charged” basis. Employees will gain complimentary access to WhiteCoat’s Plan Ahead Services (PAS), which aims to streamline the process of obtaining essential legal documents, including a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) and Advance Medical Directive (AMD).
These enhancements reflect AIA Singapore’s commitment to improving mental health support for employees and addressing the growing demand for accessible mental wellness resources in the workplace.
