Serbia’s vibrant agricultural landscape witnessed a surge in recognition for top farmers last year through the ‘Blic Top Farmer’ project, a commendable initiative supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Serbian Chamber of Commerce. This groundbreaking project, which acknowledged outstanding achievements in five distinct categories, awarded winners with a substantial prize of seven million dinars. Among the notable contributors to this endeavor was the steadfast support of Dunav Insurance Company.
Jelena Tanasković, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management, inaugurated the prestigious ceremony by underlining the revolutionary strides made in Serbian agriculture. With the implementation of digitalization, effective controls, and a threefold increase in the budget, the agricultural sector has witnessed unprecedented progress. Minister Tanasković also spotlighted the state’s commitment to supporting farmers by reimbursing a significant portion of insurance costs, ranging from 40% to 70%, contingent on the region—an initiative where Dunav Insurance plays a crucial role.
In a competitive field boasting four hundred applicants from across Serbia, the jury, featuring Milo Marković from the Executive Board of Dunav Insurance Company, faced the challenging task of identifying the most successful agricultural producers. During the award ceremony, Marković shed light on the criteria used in the decision-making process, emphasizing the pivotal role of insurance in agricultural production.
Marković underscored the significance of Dunav Insurance in providing security and stability for farmers. “What does insurance provide? It ensures security and stability. Notably, farmers entrusting their agricultural production to Dunav Insurance emerged victorious in the fruit and vegetable production categories. Slavoljub Nikolić from Despotovo and Vladan Novaković from Latvica shared their positive experiences, praising the comprehensive coverage and excellent service provided by Dunav Insurance.
Novaković stated, “We’ve looked at different insurance options, but Dunav Insurance has earned our complete trust. With around 10 acres of orchards growing plums, apples, blackberries, and raspberries, we’ve been insuring our entire production with Dunav since 2010.
