“Subi comes to GTA with proven expertise in executing large-scale modernisation efforts in state government,” Georgia CIO Shawnzia Thomas said in the announcement. “From strategy to implementation, he has the skills and experience to build on Georgia’s recent successes in migrating state applications to cloud environments. Subi shares GTA’s commitment to providing secure, reliable technology services to the state.”

The Georgia Technology Authority is currently reviewing public comments for its Digital Connectivity Plan, which outlines plans for broadband equity, access and deployment funds to help close the digital divide. The Technology Association of Georgia recognised the Connectivity Plan this year for its efforts to bring high-speed internet access to underserved communities.

The agency is also hosting a summit on generative artificial intelligence this week as the state prepares to release a policy providing ethical guidance for state agencies.

Prior to working in the Georgia state government, Muniasamy served as executive director of the Maryland Total Human Services Integrated Network initiative, where he helped build a cloud platform that consolidated information across the health and human services department. He also served as CTO of the Maryland Department of Human Services and CIO of the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange.

Muniasamy joins the technology agency following the departure of former CTO Dmitry Kagansky in October. Prior to Kagansky, the role was held by Steve Nichols, who held the position for 20 years.
