From January to October, China’s basic medical insurance funds, which include maternity insurance, generated total revenue of about CNY2.62 trillion (equivalent to about US$368.2 billion). This financial update was provided by data released by the National Health Security Administration.
Breaking down the total revenue, the basic medical insurance funds for urban workers, including maternity insurance, accounted for CNY1.85 trillion of the total.
A report also found that the funds for rural residents and non-working urban residents contributed about CNY768.36 billion to the total.
In the same period, the expenditure of these basic medical insurance funds was CNY2.25 trillion. This figure includes total expenditure from the beginning of the year to the end of October.
In other recent developments, China’s National Health Security Administration announced that more than 100 million people have registered to use a digital code for the country’s basic medical insurance.
